Drilling Commences at Malachite Ridge
King Solomon Mines Limited announced today that the first hole of the Company’s
2007 drilling programme had been collared at the Malachite Ridge prospect in the
Wuritu area of Inner Mongolia.
The Malachite Ridge drilling is aimed at a series of prominent magnetic anomalies over a
1.8km strike within a cross-faulted east-west structural trend. The principal anomaly is a
300+m open-ended zone of copper anomalous geochemistry and strongly (>1% Cu)
copper-carbonate mineralised subcrop.
The geophysical and geochemical anomalies are enclosed within a several hundred metre
wide east-west trending shear package. KSO has modeled steeply north-northwest
dipping mineralised zones which pinch and swell along strike and attain widths in the
order of tens of metres. The drilling is oriented for initial intercepts through these zones
at approximately 50m below surface.
Another broad magnetic anomaly located approximately 5km eastward along trend of the
drill target anomalies, but still within the Wuritu tenement, is currently being mapped and
sampled.
Since completing its successful $A10 million IPO in April, King Solomon (KSO) has
been moving steadily forward with its Inner Mongolia exploration program. It has:
- Acquired three new gold properties
- Completed reconnaissance and follow-up magnetometer surveys at Wuritu
- Completed a reconnaissance IP survey at Marmot Ridge and commenced a
detailed follow-up survey
- Completed reconnaissance mapping and sampling through the Sonid South
tenements, resulting in new prospect discovery; and,
- Commenced diamond drilling of the Malachite Ridge prospect at Wuritu.
